SUMMARY:Rock\, Raffle & Roll for Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:Rock\, Raffle & Roll for Healthcare! You can win this autographed Fender American Professional II Stratocaster guitar! \nBig names from the Los Angeles music industry lend their names to help raise funds for the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Iconic musicians\, guitarists Danny Kortchmar\, Waddy Wachtel and Steve Postell\, drummer Russ Kunkel\, and bassist Leland Sklar have played for Hall-of-Fame artists (James Taylor\, Keith Richards\, Jackson Browne\, Linda Ronstadt\, Carole King\, Stevie Nicks and Crosby\, Stills\, Nash & Young) and now make up the “supergroup”\, The Immediate Family. They have autographed this guitar to raffle off and raise funds for the Saanich Peninsula Hospital & Healthcare Foundation (SPHHF). \nFunds raised from the Rock\, Raffle & Roll for Healthcare raffle will be used to help purchase much needed equipment for Saanich Peninsula Hospital’s Emergency Department\, Operating Room and throughout the hospital. The proceeds will help to provide care teams at the hospital with the most up to date equipment and technological advancements\, ensuring the highest levels of care and best possible outcomes for everyone on the peninsula and surrounding area. \nRaising funds with the autographed Fender guitar was the brainchild of local businessman\, musician and long-time SPHHF supporter\, David Bremner. David and his wife\, Kim\, befriended drummer\, Russ Kunkel and his wife\, Shauna\, while dining in Sidney\, BC. A friendship ensued. In November 2022\, David and Kim visited Russ and Shauna in Los Angeles and while there purchased the guitar with the thought to donate it to the Foundation. \nThis is a fundraising opportunity unlike anything the Foundation has ever had. We appreciate your help in spreading the word\, and hope many will be inspired to purchase tickets to support a good cause\, be connected to the music world\, and have a chance to win this Fender guitar & case valued at $2593.06. The Foundation is thankful to have these rock legends impact our small community in such a big way. \nThe sale of raffle tickets starts on August 2\, 2023 and can be purchased through the SPHHF website www.sphf.ca until 4:30 pm on October 11\, 2023. \nTickets are $25 each or 5 tickets for $100. The draw will be held on Wednesday\, October 11th at 4:45 pm and one lucky winner will take home this beautiful signed Fender guitar. \nFor more information\, please call 250-656-2948\, or email Brenda.moroz-pettyjohn@sphf.ca

SUMMARY:Tower of Song: A Creative Tribute to Leonard Cohen
DESCRIPTION:When Leonard Cohen sang these words\, the Tower of Song was a metaphor for the inspiration that flows between songwriters\, each toiling away on their own\, but connected by their shared craft. Moved by this concept\, celebrated BC singer-songwriters Oliver Swain and Glenna Garramone\, collaborated to produce a project that is a dialogue through song and a tribute to the legendary songwriter. Reimagining both rare and classic works of Cohen\, the duo have crafted a sound that resonates with both longtime Cohen fans and a younger audience. \nTower of Song began as a one-off tribute night for a packed house at Vancouver’s The Media Club\, and has since grown into a nationally touring folk duo. Produced by Garramone\, she invited fellow Victoria musician Oliver Swain\, and the show gave Swain and Garramone the chance to grow their musical chemistry. Together as Tower of Song the two have arranged some of Cohen’s timeless songs beautifully\, for two voices\, banjo\, string bass\, piano and guitar.
