DESCRIPTION:Musuem hours: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm daily \nWhat happens when personal freedoms come into conflict with national security? \n\n\n\n\nExploring the suspension of civil liberties in Canada during the First World War\, the Second World War\, and the 1970 October Crisis\, Lost Liberties — The War Measures Act sheds new light on the enduring impact of the Act on Canada and its people. \nThis Canadian Museum of History exhibition examines the internment of Canadians of Ukrainian origin and other nationalities during the First World War\, the internment of Italian Canadians and the internment and forced relocation of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War\, and the arrest of hundreds of people in Quebec during the 1970 October Crisis. \nLost Liberties probes the crises that drove these tragic events\, and features poignant first-hand accounts from the men\, women and children who lived through them.

DESCRIPTION:Gulf Islands Day Paddle\, no experience required.\nLaunching from our paddling center at Port Sidney Marina\, join us a on a day paddle & picnic in the Gulf Islands. An ideal paddling location\, the Gulf Islands are one of the most beautiful and accessible archipelagos in the world. Distances are short\, scenery is varied\, and\, despite the close proximity\, civilization seems worlds away. Add the chance to see whales\, bald eagles\, seals\, sea lions\, otters\, and you have the makings for a grand wildlife outing all within reasonable distance from your launch site. \nSeveral of the Islands including Sidney Island are accessible in a day. Our general route is travelling North towards Portland Island for a nice Picnic before coming back. For a stronger paddling group we may paddle over to Mandarte Island to enjoy a bird show\, followed by a short lunch on Sidney spit and nice paddle back to the marina. \nWhat’s Included:\n– Experienced sea kayak guides\n– Kayak\, paddle\, PFD & safety gear\n– Speciality lunch catered by Alexander’s Coffee in Sidney \nWhat’s Not Included:\n– Water bottles\n– Camera\n– Sunprotetion\n– Hat \nOptions for lunches include;\nHam & Swiss\nTurkey & Havarity\nPesto\, Cheddar & cream cheese (veg) \nAll on fresh seedy ciabatta bread with mustard\, pickles (except the pesto).
