SUMMARY:Nature’s Attraction Artshow
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Details: The ArtSea Gallery will be displaying two visual artists who will be selling paintings\, cards\, and fabric art wall hangings. Margo Styan’s fabric art consists of memories from her life including from her 2 decades spent in the Yukon\, now with many west coast influences. Many of the fabrics were hand-dyed by her husband\, and they continue to work together more and more. And Faith Livingstone’s impressionist style reflects her love of colour and whimsy. She has\, over the years\, worked in pastels\, oils\, mixed media\, watercolours and alcohol inks. She is currently working mainly in acrylics. Her subjects vary from landscapes to portraits\, to florals. Faith’s art has been juried into art shows in Winnipeg\, Manitoba (Winnipeg Sketch Club) Vancouver Island (Sooke Fine Arts Show and Victoria Federation of Canadian Artists) and the BC Interior (Federation of Canadian Artists OASIS and The Lake Country Art Walk). Faith has also had a number of successful shows in Victoria and Sidney BC. Over 575 on her list so far! We live on an Island\, Tug Boats are essential to our existence and she wants this project to be a part of our Maritime History. \nChristina will be on-site painting every day over the 1 week period. This project is a collaboration of many marine photographers who have given permission for the use of their photos as reference for Christina to create these paintings as these are work boats and she wanted to be able to paint them working.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a live video call at sea\, with scientists and engineers onboard the CanPac Valour as they explore the seafloor off BC’s coast! Part of the NorthEast Pacific Deep-sea Exploration Project (NEPDEP)\, this expedition will be mapping the seafloor with an echosounder and using a remotely operated vehicle called Mantis to record real-time footage of the seafloor\, including at underwater mountains near Haida Gwaii and in the new Tang.ɢ̲wan · ḥačxʷiqak · Tsig̱is Marine Protected Area off the west coast of Vancouver Island. These areas are hotspots for marine biodiversity\, with nurseries of eggs\, glass sponge reefs\, seafloor venting\, and new species being discovered all the time. \nThis expedition is a collaboration between Fisheries and Oceans Canada\, Council of the Haida Nation\, Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council\, Royal BC Museum\, University of Victoria\, and Ocean Networks Canada. \nIn this live event\, you are invited to ask questions directly to those at sea. You will learn about marine life\, why the ecosystems are important\, the sophisticated technology they’re using\, and what life onboard the vessel is like.
