SUMMARY:Federation of Canadian Artists Victoria Chapter Spring Artshow
DESCRIPTION:Art moves and connects us\, sparking joy\, introspection and dialogue but art is more than a product; it is an action driven by our need to communicate. But why do we create and what compels us to express ourselves in visual forms? Members of the Federation of Canadian Artists\, Victoria Chapter\, have been invited to submit their response to questions such as these\, the results of which are as multi-faceted as the artists themselves. Two-dimensional works – in multiple genres\, styles and medium\, from the photo-realistic to fully abstract – will be featured in this juried exhibition. \nInterested in seeing and hearing more about what motivates and inspires this group of talented people to create? Please\, join us at ArtSea for our semi-annual exhibition\, the “FCA Victoria Chapter\, Spring Show\, 2025”\, between Friday\, April 18 to Thursday\, April 24 when artists will be in attendance. \nParticipants: Members of the Federation of Canadian Artists\, Victoria Chapter \nShow Opening Reception: Saturday\, April 19\, 2025 4:00-6:00 pm \nShow Times: 10am – 4pm\, daily

SUMMARY:Quartetto Gelato Performance
DESCRIPTION:Mary Winspear Centre Presents: Quartetto Gelato\nTuesday\, April 8\nDoors 7pm\, Show 7:30pm \nSeries Ticket $120\nSingle Ticket $47.00 \nVirtuosic showpieces and romantic ballads\, blazing Romani tunes and forgotten chestnuts\, all brought to life with multi-instrument mastery: this is Quartetto Gelato—a popular and highly unusual classical quartet. \nQuartetto Gelato released a highly successful first CD in 1994. Subsequent recordings such as Neapolitan Café (2001) and Musica Latina (2009) showcase the ensemble’s flair for imaginative international themes – Travels the Orient Express (2004) features music associated with stops along the route of the famous train. The quartet recorded a Christmas CD in 2010 and their 9th disc\, “All Original – 100% Canadian”\, is comprised of works written for the group by Canadian composers that highlight their signature style. QG released their 10th album in 2021 called Tasty Tunes: a blend of fun\, eclecticism\, international flavours\, multi-instrumentation\, vocals and superb musicianship.

SUMMARY:Martha Wainwright Performance
DESCRIPTION:Mary Winspear Centre Presents: Martha Wainwright with guest Brad Barr!\n20th Anniversary Tour of her Seminal Eponymous Debut Album \nMonday\, April 7\, 2025\nDoors 7pm\, Show 7:30pm \nTo celebrate the 20th anniversary of her seminal eponymous debut studio album\, Martha Wainwright announces the 20th Anniversary Tour\, hitting North America in the Spring of 2025. \nMartha Wainwright: On March 21st we will release the record on vinyl for the first time ever\, as well as digitally release unheard songs\, outakes and early material from that 10 year period of discovery that led to my first record. Along with the re-release there will be a tour (with more dates being announced soon)\, with a few great musicians\, where I’ll play the record in its entirety as well as a few new songs – there’s no 48 year old me without the 28 year old me! \nBrad Barr: Over a career that spans three decades\, Brad Barr has cultivated a uniquely visceral\, disarmingly intimate approach to the guitar. If you’re already a fan of the Montreal-based Barr Brothers \, or the legendary improv-rock trio The Slip \, then you already know — it’s futile to try and categorize his ongoing experiments in sound and songwriting

SUMMARY:Michael Kaeshammer Performance
DESCRIPTION:Mary Winspear Centre Presents: Michael Kaeshammer\nThursday\, March 27\, 2025\nDoors 7:00pm Show 7:30pm \nMichael Kaeshammer isn’t so much a piano player as a piano whisperer\, a master musician and songwriter able to coax dazzling\, kaleidoscopic sounds from his instrument in a way few can rival. That gift powers Turn It Up\, Kaeshammer’s superb 15th album\, broadly described as “eclectic yet accessible jazz-based pop” though\, as with all Kaeshammer’s music\, far more expansive than one simple description can possibly illustrate. \nAcross a brilliant\, globe-trotting career highlighted by nine tours of China\, three appearances at the Olympics\, and countless shows opposite international superstars\, the German-born\, B.C.-based Kaeshammer has electrified audiences with his indelible repertoire and consistently positive outlook on life which infuses his lyrics. “I am a very positive person\,” confirms the seven-time JUNO Award nominee and unabashed foodie\, who hosts cooking show Kaeshammer’s Kitchen on Vancouver Island’s CHEK TV. “I really love playing shows and being on-stage. If Turn It Up helps me to do more of that\, then I’m all in. Music is my favourite thing to do.”
