SUMMARY:Barracuda
DESCRIPTION:Barracuda are from Vancouver BC\, the city where Heart was fully formed and recorded their first two albums. Combining all of Heart’s greatest hits from rockers to ballads but also covering Led Zep material which Heart did and still does. In fact they were nicknamed Little Zep. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLed by four octave powerhouse vocalist D.L. Car; who is an Ann Wilson purist vocally and she also plays flute and acoustic guitar. Both Roger Fisher\, Heart’s original lead guitarist and co-songwriter\, and his brother Michael\, Heart’s sound -tech\, manager and Ann’s boyfriend who the song Magic Man was written about have both gone on record stating that D.L. Car is vocally the closest to Ann Wilson they have ever heard and they have seen many! Roger has made guest appearances with Barracuda many times over the past 10 years. \nBarracuda searched far and wide for a perfect Nancy Wilson persona\, and found the perfect candidate in Sarah Moon who resides in Portland OR\, Sarah brings her musical talents along with a physical presence to the stage.

DESCRIPTION:Learning with Syeyutsus Speaker Series \nJoin us in conversation with Heather Menzies\, a settler Canadian who shares a personal\, intimate story of her journey and steps toward reconciliation\, revealing the rich potential that comes from learning to listen and change – decolonization — not as to-do list\, but as a lived experience of taking one awkward step at a time. DESCRIPTION:Piano Heist Hits Sidney!\nLifelong friends\, and colleagues\, Nico Rhodes\, and Patrick Courtin\, shocked and appalled by the realization that piano just isn’t cool anymore\, set off on a divine quest to redeem the keyboard and reinstate its reputation as the greatest instrument of ALL TIME! Armed with the music of the greatest composers\, songwriters and performers of the past 300 years\, and the technology of the 21st century – their virtual orchestra D.O.U.G.I. (Digital Orchestral Ultimate Gizmo Intelligence)\, Nico and Patrick deliver everything from classical piano raptures to bombastic boogie woogie\, from romantic piano ballads to 80’s keyboard synth battles in their show Piano Heist! What ensues is a mishmash of theatrical wonder\, comedy\, audience participation\, heartfelt stories\, a pinch of history\, and a world of musical madness. www.pianoheist.com

We’ll forucs on simple\, cost-effective\, recycled & DIY materials\, and strategies as well as discussing a few more elaborate systems. Hands out will be provided for registered participants\, and a Q&A will follow. \nThis is a FREE course that will take place virtually on Zoom.

SUMMARY:Sam George & Jill Goldberg - The Fire Still Burns
DESCRIPTION:Learning with Syeyutsus Speaker Series \nThe crimes carried out at St. Paul’s Indian Residential School in North Vancouver scarred untold numbers of Indigenous children and families across generations. Sam George was one of these children. Sam’s story follows his childhood growing up on the Eslhá7an (Mission) reserve to St. Paul’s\, where he weathered physical\, emotional\, and sexual abuse. Sam spent much of his life navigating the effects of this trauma – prison\, addiction\, and challenging relationships – until he found the strength to face his past. Now an Elder and educator with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society\, Sam shares his harrowing story\, in his own words. An ember of Sam’s spirit always burned within him\, and even in the darkest of places he retained his humour and dignity.
