SUMMARY:Larry Chartrand – Bead by Bead: Constitutional Rights and Métis Community 12:00 - 1:00 PM
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, May 22\, 2024\nTime: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm\nBranch: All\nVenue: Virtual Meeting\nAudience: Indigenous Voices\, Learning with Syeyutsus 2024\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning with Syeyutsus Speaker Series\nAs lawyers and scholars dispute forms of Métis identity\, and debate the nature and scope of Métis rights under the Canadian Constitution\, understanding Métis experience of colonization is fundamental to achieving reconciliation. \nThis topic will speak to the historical denial – at both federal and provincial levels – of outstanding Métis concerns and Aboriginal rights claims\, in particular with respect to land\, resources\, and governance. Tackling such themes as ongoing colonial policies\, the invisibility of Métis women in court decisions\, identity politics\, and racist legal principles\, they uncover the troubling issues that plague Métis aspirations for a just future. SUMMARY:Victoria Cross Country Tour
DESCRIPTION:Between 21-31st May we will be hosting our 8th Annual Cross Country Tour. This year\, we will showcase 120 guest speakers across 30 Canadian cities made possible by a team of over 300 volunteers. On May 22nd\, 2024 we will bring our tour to Victoria. Our event will be hosted at The Victoria Flying Club. \nThe Elevate Aviation Cross Country Tour empowers youth to consider a career in aviation through inspirational presentations and behind the scenes tours by women in aviation. Each tour day is free of charge and features incredible guest speakers\, lunch\, and behind the scenes tours of the airport. Participants will hear from pilots\, air traffic controllers\, aerospace engineers\, aircraft mechanics\, and other aviation professionals. \nWe are inviting students between the ages of 12-18 to participate in this unique opportunity\, as we believe that introducing young people to the wide range of career opportunities available in aviation is an important step in increasing diversity and representation in the industry. \nFor the Victoria stop we are specifically touring the Victoria Flying Club\, and the BC Aviation Museum.

SUMMARY:FOLLOWING MY MUSE - 10:00 AM - 4:00PM May 24 - 30
DESCRIPTION:Show hours: 10am – 4pm\, daily\n\nPainting is the dessert in my life…it fills me up and satisfies me like a big piece of chocolate cake! I have always painted whatever interests me\, seascapes\, landscapes\, still life\, even some figurative pieces! It’s always about shadow and light for me\, so I don’t feel constrained by the ‘what is your subject matter’ question. It can be anything at all! I hope you enjoy my collection of work during this exhibition and perhaps you will even find one that speaks to your heart as well. \nOpening Reception Sunday May 26th 12:00 to 4:00
