From her seaside studio in Sidney, British Columbia, Adrienne writes website content, ghostwritten non-fiction books, and marketing collateral for entrepreneurs, using the storytelling techniques she learnt as a journalist.
Why did you choose Sidney as the location for your business?
“I love Sidney, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Since I work from home, I love being able to live and work in my own community and avoid a commute. Being here, I can be working one minute and run out to get my groceries in order to be back home for a work call.”
What has been the most rewarding aspect of running your business so far?
“The biggest pain point that I hear from clients is their inability to get the message in their head into words. The most rewarding part of running my business is the ability to solve those pain points by capturing their marketing message and sharing it with the world in a way that connects them with their clients and then they can see their business grow as a result.”
If you could give one piece of advice to a new entrepreneur what would it be?
“Don’t be afraid to tell your stories and share who you are as a person because that is what connects you to your audience and will establish trust between you and your customer. By opening yourself up to your clients and showing who you are as a human being, you won’t need to think much about what your competition is doing because you are unique in the world and the way that you approach what you do is too.”
What are the core values of your business?
“Integrity and customer service are the cornerstones of how I operate my business. I always deliver what I say I will on time and on budget and it is super important to me that customers are not only happy with what I deliver but also completely over-the-moon and delighted with what they are given. I don’t stop working until they feel that way. Additionally, bringing people together and building relationships between individuals is at the very heart of what I do.”
What are your short term and long term goals as a business owner?
“I just finished a ghost writer certification program centered on ghost writing non-fiction books so, in the short term, I am working on adding that to my portfolio of services that I offer. I am also writing my own book called “Mircostory Magic” which focuses on easy ways for a company to create their own content marketing plan. Another short term goal of mine is to get that published by the end of this calendar year. A long term goal of mine is to expand the ghost writing side of my business and to build a course to accompany my book that I would then market separately. I would also like to build a coaching service alongside a small team of people to help manage that expansion of my business as that is where I am looking to go long term.”
