Movie Night at the Sidney Museum

In the late 19th-early 20th century, D’Arcy Island was where the federal government sent people affected with leprosy for containment. The harsh conditions of this quarantine station was where 49 primarily Asian men suffering from the diseases lived. Island of Shadows: D’Arcy Island Leper Colony, 1891-1924 is a documentary that examines the factors contributing to its creation and to the inhumane treatment those that were forced to live there.
