Sidney Days Canada Day Celebrations

Sidney Days is Sidney’s annual Canada Day celebration, bringing the community together for two days of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, fireworks, a community parade, and traditional Canada Day festivities. Events take place throughout Sidney, including Beacon Park, the waterfront, Iroquois Park, downtown Sidney, and the Mary Winspear Centre. All events are smoke- and vape-free.

TUESDAY, JUNE 30

OPENING CEREMONIES
7:30 PM | Beacon Park
The celebrations begin with opening ceremonies and live music at Sidney’s waterfront park.

FIREWORKS
10:15 PM | Sidney Waterfront
The first day concludes with a fireworks display over Sidney’s waterfront.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 1

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
8:00 AM – Mary Winspear Centre
Hosted by the Sidney Lions, this long-standing community tradition kicks off Canada Day celebrations with a delicious pancake breakfast featuring the Sidney Lions’ famous pancakes and fried sausages. With family-friendly pricing and generous portions, it’s a popular way to start the day. Arriving early is recommended, as the breakfast draws large crowds and lineups can build quickly throughout the morning. It’s the perfect opportunity to fuel up before a full day of Canada Day festivities in Sidney.

CANADA DAY PARADE
11:30 AM – Downtown Sidney
Presented by the Peninsula Celebrations Society, the Canada Day Parade is one of the largest community events on the Saanich Peninsula, featuring colourful floats, performers, community groups, local organizations, and plenty of hometown spirit. The parade begins at the corner of Resthaven Drive and Sidney Avenue, travels along Beacon Avenue, turns right onto Second Street, and concludes near Ocean Avenue. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot along the route, as thousands of residents and visitors gather to enjoy this beloved Canada Day tradition. BUILD-A-BOAT
12:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Beacon Park
Presented by Slegg Building Materials, teams will construct homemade boats before launching them from Glass Beach at approximately 4:45 PM, tide permitting. Spectators are welcome to come down and watch the boat-building process anytime after 12:00 PM.

FAMILY FUN FAIR
12:30 PM – 4:00 PM | Iroquois Park
Peninsula Celebrations’ Family Fun Fair kicks off at Iroquois Park directly following the Canada Day Parade, promising a day filled with excitement and joy for all ages. Delight in a diverse range of activities tailored for the whole family to enjoy together.
